Clinical Hypnosis

There are a variety of therapeutic techniques available in order to treat the multitude of mental health issues that individuals face. While talk therapy is extremely effective for many clients, some individuals may benefit from a different approach, often to address important underlying issues hindering their therapeutic progress. One of these treatments sometimes used by therapists is called clinical hypnosis. Hypnosis involves working with a clinical hypnotherapist to enter a relaxed state where clients feel more able to access deep emotions. A more specific form of clinical hypnotherapy is called Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy. There are many conditions that can be treated using this technique. Some of the most commonly treated conditions using clinical hypnotherapy include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • substance abuse
  • cessation of unwanted habits
  • posttraumatic stress disorder

Many people are misinformed as to what clinical hypnosis actually is. A common misconception is that hypnosis will cause an individual to become incapacitated, and at the will of the therapist. This is untrue. When a client goes through this therapeutic process, they never reach a state of unconsciousness.

When Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy is being utilized while in session, the therapist will first explain the process to the client. The session begins with guided relaxation, where the therapist will guide the client through a variety of relaxation techniques, in order to help their subconscious mind become receptive to the process.

Once the client is in a total state of relaxation, the therapist will then use guided imagery in order to help the client recall memories from their past, which may have otherwise been forgotten about. At this point in the process, the therapist is able to help the client deal with those past memories, and heal or address whatever emotional responses are elicited throughout the session.

Age regression can sometimes be a component of this technique, as many suffer from the ramifications of what they may have experienced or endured very early in life. At the conclusion of the session, the therapist gently brings their client out of hypnosis slowly and methodically. Further discussion in regards to what feelings and memories may have been discovered will occur at this point.

Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy is an effective way to get down to the root causes of a client’s issues or concerns. If other modes of therapy don’t seem to be working effectively, it may be beneficial to learn more about this efficacious therapeutic technique.
